I am officially going to stop saying the babies’ ages in weeks, it gets too confusing to figure out weeks into months for my simple, tired, postpartum brain from this point on. Plus I can start making birthday treats once a month instead of every week. I don’t care how many babies a girl is feeding, no one needs to eat THAT many cupcakes/muffins/brownies.
So down to baby business. 3 Months! They don’t have a wellness check with the pediatrician this month, so the weight estimates are totally guesses and the length measurements are iffy as well since all I have is a ribbon and a toolbox measuring tape. Oh well.
Miss Lucie June at: 22.5 inches, and I’m totally guessing 12 lbs 2 oz
Young Theodore William at: 23.5 inches and 12 lbs 6 oz. We’ll get the real numbers next month!
BIG milestones this month! My imposed morning nap and keeping to a cycle during the days has paid off big time! As of Friday night, Lucie June is sleeping all night through. Yeah you heard me, 9 hours straight. Teddy flipped a switch as well and is only waking once to eat! It’s a flipping miracle! Who has the most awesome twins EVER? We do! He must have hit a weight marker or something and all of sudden doesn’t require eating 14x’s a night anymore. Whatever the reason, I’m not going to question it further. I really do believe the better sleeping at night is due to better sleeping during the day. This begins with a morning nap about 1 hour after waking up, after eating, and a little playtime. Then instead of going by the clock we are working with the cycle EAT/PLAY/SLEEP. And I wait for their “sleep cues” to start the nap time routine. So they’re getting lots and lots of sleep during the morning, less in the afternoon, and lots more at night, but still taking 3 naps a day easily. Oh and Lucie grasped and help a toy rattle for the 1st time this past week, which I guess is an infant milestone. They are both pushing with their legs if you try to stand them up and are showing great head and neck control. Lucie can lift her chest up off the floor while on her tummy and Teddy is doing that half-roll thing on his front and back where it looks like he miiiiight go over if not for that arm that sticks under his body.
During playtime they like to kick their legs and wave their arms on the activity mat, or tummy time on the twinz pillow where we have fun conversations in Oooo’s, Ahhhh’s, and Ohhhh’s, with a Kkkkkk or maybe a Uhgaaa thrown in from time to time. We also like story books, Madeline is a big favorite because of the style of illustrations, but we’ve also read Brown Bear Brown Bear What Do You See?, I am a Kitten (which is from my own collection of childhood books), Where the Wild Things Are, Little Tug, and The Story of Babar this week.
For their 3 Month Birthday Cupcakes, we went with a classic Vanilla Cake (cake recipe from the Flour cookbook) but jazzed it up with Nutella Buttercream Frosting. I love Nutella.
