Happy Birthday! Four Years!

Believe it or not, my favorite kids are 4 years old for a whole week already!

We popped by our new Pediatrician’s office this past Friday for a checkup and it appears the kids have done a lot of growing this past year. It was fun to take measure since they were lucky to be healthy this past year and avoided the doctor altogether.  They chatted with the doc, got a look over, and up to date on their vaccinations. All is well!

Lucie measured 37.3lbs (63rd%) and 40 in (57th%). At 3 years she was 32.2lbs (66%) 37.01in (45%).

Teddy measured 28.3 lbs (1st%) and 38.2 in (11%). At 3 years he was 25lbs (1%) 35.2in (6%).

The past 3 weeks have been absolutely full with so many amazing visitors. Jody came from Boston for a week, Becca, Kaleb, and Aiden have been here almost 2 weeks now from Ohio, and Grandma and Grandpa came for 2 days from Chicago for Party Weekend.

I’ll stick with Party Weekend here for a moment. Lucie and Teddy rang in 4 with a birthday party at the Colorado Railroad Museum with lots of family and friends. They were especially excited to have their friends there to share a train ride on The Galloping Goose (originally used in the Rocky Mountains to deliver mail between 1931-1952) and share birthday cake and balloons. Their cakes were something, if you know me, you know that I take Birthday cake very seriously, and I made sure to take notes of all the requests. Lucie wanted a “lemon cake with white icing and a fruit rainbow and 2 unicorns, one with wings, one without” and Teddy wanted a “chocolate cookie cake with white cookie icing and blueberries and an airplane”. Crazy kids. We rounded out the day with a family pizza party at home, and spent Sunday leisurely hanging with Grandpa Jeff and Grandma Patti. PW was concluded with a ski day at Copper Mountain, where all four kids took ski school with Becca at the bunny hill and made their first ride up the “sky trailer” and run down the big mountain with my mom and I as escorts. Lucie and Teddy were sparkly and aglow from the love and special attention from the whole experience and I can’t thank all our amazing visitors enough for making their birthday so wonderful.

I’ve been the worst blogger this fall, and I’d like to offer sincere apologies to those of you who look here for recent pictures of the kids and such. It’s been busy! But I’d thought I’d check in and post some photos. (I post very often on Instagram so if you’d like to keep daily track of us, you can find me there under the handle @jemcross25)

So I’ll post again quickly with some of our family photos we did about a month ago, but these start thanksgiving weekend. We spent the holiday at my moms and it was just wonderful. I did really miss our annual trip to Pittsburgh, but it was great to be with my mama and sister so not a bad alternative!

Their first ice skating lesson was pretty funny. Lucie got frustrated and cried, but Teddy laughed the whole time despite all the slip-sliding. The instructor said little kids improve really quickly so keep your fingers crossed for us!

We just got this fancy shmancy space heater that looks like an old wood stove and I was inspired to put up a chimney! The kids had a ball with all the gluing, ha! I think it turned out pretty cute. Oh the things you can do with construction paper!
