The Dentist

I forgot to write last week Teddy and Lucie visited the dentist for the first time. I asked our pediatrician for a recommendation in our area and we chose an office just down our street about a mile (literally on our same street), right across from the park with the good water sprinklers in the summer. It was great, I think the assistants and the doctor all have kids of their own so they were very understanding of Goose and Bear’s initial wariness, and were very accommodating. They got us right in, which the kids weren’t so pumped about because there were fun toys and a cool fish tank with 2 “Nemo” fish. There was no crying, their teeth are fine, I was given a pat on the back for my healthy dental habits (good brushing and no thumb sucking/pacifiers/candy/bottles or milk in bed). I was told to lay off the dried fruits like raisins because they stick and cause cavities, that’s news to everyone, right? Raisins are like the easiest healthy snack, dang! The doctor looked at their teeth, yes Teddy is a slow teether, wiped them with fluoride and that was it. As we left the kids were rewarded with new toothbrushes, stickers, and a prize from the treasure chest. I didn’t take one picture because I had 2 toddlers sitting on my lap clutching my arms the whole visit. So this is one from a few days ago when they were listening to animal noises on the iPad.

Playing outside

With all of the beautiful spring weather we have been spending a lot of time outdoors.  So what’s new in Teddy and Lucie land? Lucie is going through a no eating phase.  She’s currently surviving on shredded cheese, milk, yogurt, and whatever other morsels I can convince her to eat.  She also cut 4 teeth in the last 2 weeks, so I bet that’s part of the problem.  She’s up to 6 teeth and 2 tiny buds just coming through. Teddy has 4.  I think I have the slowest teethers on the planet!  They just passed the 14mth mark for reference.  I also fear little Lucie termite is trying her hand at biting.  She bit Will the other night and this morning she got so frustrated with Teddy that she bit his shoulder and left a mark!  Poor little Bear, he was very distraught.  I’m not really sure how to handle it.  I’m not sure she understands exactly what she’s done or why I’m scolding her, but I can’t just let it go.  Our friends will never want to play with us!  I hope she just lets it go.  Little Bear is so, well, just darn chipper.  He walks around all day tossing his luscious wavey hair out of his eyes giggling about this and that.  He is also an eating machine.  Mr. Clean Plate is eating everything you put in front of him and everything you put in front of his sister too.  The only thing he really dislikes is having water poured over his head in the bath.  He discovered this week (after 3 good mouthfuls) that dirt is not tastey, but is it ever fun to play in.

Have a great Memorial Day weekend!
